A THYME FOR EVERYTHING WESTERN SICILY---CULINARY ELEGANCE October 23 – 29, 2011
Join Jet Pabst and the incredible Judy Witts Francini for a full immersion in food, wine, oil and culture on the southwest coast of Sicily. Private cooking classes, exploring ancient Greek, Arabic and Norman ruins, dining on the freshest seafood, and bustling markets will fill the days. This is an ALL-INCLUSIVE package…accommodation, transportation, meals, wines, cooking classes and the fun and informative services of Judy Witts Francini. Space is limited and the price is based on 10 participants. Basic Itinerary (subject to change) October 23 Arrive Palermo. The hotel will be located near Via La Liberta, Palermo’s famous shopping street. In the evening a welcome gathering at hotel followed by dinner at a local trattoria. October 24 Morning guided tour of Palermo and the Capo food market. Following lunch, travel by private mini-bus to Menfi and “La Foresteria” Hotel at Planeta Wine Estates. Dinner prepared by Chef Angelo Pumilia. October 25 Morning cooking class with Chef Pumilia followed by lunch of the class menu. Late afternoon excursion to a local town followed by dinner at local trattoria. October 26 Morning visit to the ancient ruins of Selinunte. Then to Becchina Estate, producer of “Olio Verde” for a cooking class and lunch. Becchina has a beautiful shop with local products. Light dinner at “La Foresteria”. October 27 Visit to Sciacca, famous for local hand crafted ceramics. Lunch seaside at Porto Palo at “Da Vittorio” followed by local sightseeing. Light dinner at the hotel. October 28 Depart Menfi and travel to Trapani, visiting the famous salt flats. Lunch and demo of “cous cous” at a classic restaurant. Time for shopping in the old city of Trapani, then return to Palermo. Farewell dinner at a local restaurant. October 29 Return to USA or continue independent visits in Italy. Single accommodation is available for a supplement of $450.00 AIR FARE IS NOT INCLUDED…Mariann Vandenberg of Travels With Taste can assist with schedule recommendations, reservations and ticketing. Estimated round-trip air fare is currently $1250. REGISTRATION DEADLINE: May 15, 2011 FINAL PAYMENT DUE: August 23, 2011. DEPOSIT: $500 per person. This may be done by credit card or check payable to “Travels With Taste Holding Account”.
Please note: Final Payment can be by personal check to avoid additional credit card fees. CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS: All cancellations are subject to a $100 administrative fee. Deposit (less administrative fee) is refundable up until May 15, 2011. Cancellation after May 15 will result in loss of deposit. Refunds for cancellations received on or after August 23, 2011 will be dependent upon monies recovered from suppliers. The price is also subject to increase due to imposition of taxes or fuel surcharges not in effect at the time of pricing, an increase in the exchange rate of more than 3%, or should the number of participants fall below ten. INSURANCE: Trip cancellation/baggage/emergency medical evacuation/accident and sickness insurance protection is highly recommended. Full information will be provided by Travels With Taste upon receipt of deposit.
